Today I am going to tell you guys more about my Roommates!
I live with two other mares in a spacious, 6 feeder "house" at the end of a nice "street" in the "downtown ranch area".

We have a shelter for the hot or stormy days,

personal feeders,
 |
| L-R Lola, Mara & Me |
and a large water trough that I
LIVE to play in (one of these days I will tell you how I got the nickname "WaterLily").

It's a peaceful place, on the right side we share a fence with a dozen or so retired Arabian mares

and on the left is a patch of "Forest" where an elderly peacock dwells.

Our "backyard" backs the fence to a fruit tree orchard,

As you can see, I have a good home, it's like a "mini mustang territory" for me and my "herd".
Speaking of my herd, I think it's time to tell you about my "nannies" (Mommy calls them that, since they are basically my live in baby sitters)!
LOLA
 |
| Lola |
Lola is my BESTEST FRIEND! She's like a big sister or dam to me! We do EVERYTHING together! Play in the water trough, eat meals, lick salt, swishing flies, napping etc.
 |
| Lola & Me Sharing Dinner |
Lola is a 11-13 year old, home-bred, sorrel, Quarter horse mare. She is the head mare in our "house", she says jump, we jump...well Mara jumps, I'm allowed a little leeway, I am an adorable baby after all!
 |
| Purdy Face! |
Lola is very protective, she views me as her daughter, and likes to teach me things, like how to nibble gate locks and scratch my booty on the fence!
MARA
 |
| Miss Mara |
Mara is a gentle, old, paint mare. She only has one eye. Her left one has a layer of skin that has grown over it. Mommy doesn't know much about how she lost it, but Mara doesn't talk much so I haven't heard the story of how it happened.
 |
| Mara's Left Eye |
Mara was very thin and fragile when I first moved in. Journey (our old room mate) would chase her away from the food.
 |
| Journey |
But since Journey moved out, Mara has been gaining weight and eating more!
 |
| Mara Eating Dinner! |
Mom used to grab a flake of hay and call Mara's name until the mare could figure out where to find her. Than she would place it behind the shelter where Mara could eat in peace! They are now friends!
Of course, like all roommates, we have our disagreements but at the end of the day, me and my nannies are family and I hope we always stay that way!
Lots Of Kisses
-TigerLily
