Starter Tack Part 2

There comes a point in training where humans should teach us to carry additional pieces of tack.
Not just saddles, Mommy's next step is breast collars.

No matter what of riding you do, us horses should know how to wear some sort of chest harness just in case in the future one is needed or desired.

Personally, Mom likes to start with a nylon lead rope or soft line, tied around our necks with the clip dangling in between our elbows or knees but not to long, or we can trip.

 introduces breast collars

So far, she hasn't encountered any horse that is not alright with this (even me, and I was born in the wild).
Mom, is careful not to let the buckle hurt our legs EVER! So when we are moving faster than a walk, she either hooks it to the cinch (if we are wearing a saddle) or to our halters.

Once we graduate to an official breast collar, (much like starter saddles) Mommy prefers to use light weight, cheap, and easily cleaned breast collars, to start.

Obviously, leather is a popular material used in breast collar construction.
There are some light weight, budget friendly leather options on the market, but the safest way to ensure that your breast collar doesn't break the bank in the event that it breaks during training,

Mom likes to use breast collars made of the following materials whenever possible:

As with saddles, the above materials come in many variations both english and western.
However if you can't afford one of these options, you can always continue to have us wear the lead rope.

Again, everyone has there own way of training horses, and this is only one human's opinion.

However, her way of doing things is working with me and multiple other horses so obviously, there is something to it.
