LEARNING TO DANCE IN THE RAIN!

This Weekend has been wet and rainy here in SoCal.

Yesterday morning the "neighborhood" was muddy, our coats and manes were damp, and fresh, clean smells filled the air!

Now, I (along with most horses, especially Mustangs) LOVE the rain!

Mara & Me hanging out in the rain

Mommy likes to say that I like to "dance" in the rain.

Whenever I feel any drops at all, I just can't help kicking up my heels and tossing my head toward the sky, letting the rain drops fall on my muzzle.

Lola likes the rain too!

We'll run around together in the storms, kicking up our heels and squealing as loud as we can!

Lola & Me "dancing" in the rain

When Lola and Me finally get tired we will stand together under our shelter and have deep and meaningful conversations.

Under My shelter!

Yesterday, as Mommy was feeding Mara, she watched Me and Lola play in the mist and she was reminded of one of her favorite quotes.

Now, this quote has been said and re-said by so many people, it's really difficult to trace it back to any one person.

But, She finds it very motivational and relevant (especially in the horse world).

Think about it, us horses have our own free will, it takes a lot of patience and kindness to teach us how to react the way you want us to in any given situation.

Sometimes your going to have a bad day and sometimes we horses are going to have a bad day.

Sometimes it's going to "rain".

But you can't be too hard on yourself, learn from your mistakes, shake off the frustration and the disappointment and try again the next day, "learn to dance in the rain".
Me Dancing In The Rain

This mentality can be transferred to any scenario in your life, not just when working with horses.

Life is hard, it has some heavy areas and some light areas just like a storm.

So find the positive whenever you can! Dance!

My Mommy gets "stuck in storms" sometimes, everybody does. It's hard to stay positive, she always starts to blame herself.

But staying positive and looking for the good within the bad, can make a huge difference in your attitude!

So remember,
