SOMETHING NEW SATURDAY!
Hello,
As you may have guessed by the title of this post, today I experienced something new!
But come to think of it...I have crossed a few other mile stones this week as well.
For example, on Thursday I wore a big girl saddle pad for the first time ever!
Which was a big deal! But today's mile stone trumps Thursday's!
DRUM ROLL PLEASE.........
Can you guess what it is?...............I WORE MY FIRST BIT!
You see, Mommy bought me a raw sweet iron, 5", loose ring, snaffle bit by Weaver Leather off the Internet but since it has not arrived yet she asked a friend if they had a plain snaffle we could borrow.
But then I quickly decided it wasn't really that bad wearing a bridle and bit, in fact, I think I looked really cute in it!
Anyway, it turns out wearing a bit wasn't as horrible as I thought it would be.

You see, Mommy bought me a raw sweet iron, 5", loose ring, snaffle bit by Weaver Leather off the Internet but since it has not arrived yet she asked a friend if they had a plain snaffle we could borrow.
Would you believe our luck, they did!!
Mommy's friend Kim, handed her an old headstall with the bit attached to it and asked if it would work.
"I don't know let's find out" Mommy responded.
She headed over to where I was standing patiently at the tie rail (like a little angel pony), with the headstall draped over her arm.
I turned my head so that I could see the bit when she held it out for me to inspect.
"Um...what is that?" I asked Mommy while gingerly sniffing at the bit.
"It is a bit, your going to wear it."
"How?"
"Well, you open your mouth and it rests in the gap between your teeth. Eventually I will guide you with it instead of your Dually."
"Yeah, no thank you that all sounds like hard work Mommy."
"It's not that bad, watch."
Mommy looped the head stall over my ears and gently pulled the bit into my mouth.
"No...nope...I don't want to...YUCK!" I protested while raising my face to the sky so I didn't have to open my teeth.
But as you may imagine, after a minute of coaxing Mommy got the bit into my mouth.
At first I was all like
"OMG EEEWWW!"

"Mommy, Mommy take my picture!" I asked eagerly, striking a pose like the model horses do in the catalogs.

Mommy took my borrowed bit home to clean and tomorrow we will put it on my own headstall and have another lesson in bitting!
So you see, you can never judge a book by it's cover, or in this case, you can never judge a bit by it's scent! You will never truly know how bad something is until you try it for yourself.
Who knows, maybe it will surprise you!
Go try something new today!
