PETE THE PEACOCK!
If you read my post about my Roommates, than you probably read the sentence about having an elderly peacock as a neighbor.
During the day, he'll come and nestle down among the weeds beside the fence.
Sometimes Pete will flutter over into our house and play with me. He's a gentle old soul, but aloof. Even after all these years he still doesn't really like people.
I don't know Pete's history and Mommy only knows bits and pieces, she isn't even sure if her info about Pete is accurate.
Today I want to tell you more about that peacock, we call him Pete.
Now, I'm not sure if Pete is really my friend's name (or if he even has one) but that's what Mommy and I decided to call him and he seems to like it.

Pete lives in the "forest" that shares a fence with my "house".

So this story may not be entirely true but here is the summary of Pete's life (or at least what Mommy has heard about it).
Once upon a time, on the property next door, lived a small group of peacocks.
Pete still goes where he likes but he seems lonely and is constantly calling for no reason.

These peacocks roamed free, they walked around the neighborhood visiting the local hen houses and duck ponds.
One day, the property the peacocks lived on was sold, but because the birds were now basically wild, they were left behind to enjoy themselves and explore.
About nineteen years ago these birds were roosting in a run down, abandoned house at the top of a lovely piece of horse property.
around this time, the land was sold and the house was rebuilt.
But, the peacocks were left alone to continue to do as they chose.
Over the years, one by one, the peacocks died off until only one was left.
This last "wild" peacock was Pete.
I'm glad Pete is my friend, and I hope he will start to feel better, especially because Mommy as made up her mind to make friends with him!
