EQUINE BODY CONDITION!

Hello Everyone!

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while, I've been busy being adorable and stealing all the other horses hugs and kisses...hehe!

Lately Mommy has been telling me that I am starting to look kind of chubby...😳!

UH...RUDE!

So I decided that today's post is going to be all about the correct body condition for us horses to prove to Mommy that I AM NOT CHUBBY!

Now, of course all horses should be cared for with the three correct components:

  • Regular Exercise
  • Proper Nutrition
  • Correct Health Care

When a horse is cared for properly then it should be much easier for our Humans' to maintain our condition.

There is a widely excepted measuring system known as the Body Condition Scale.

(Diagram found on Google)

This group of diagrams are used to demonstrate both the healthy and unhealthy weights and conditions of a horse's body.

By comparing your horse's condition to those pictured, you can determine which "score" to give your horse and begin working on either feeding us more or less or by adding additional exercise time to our routines.

My Current Body Score is a # 6 1\2

My current body condition score is (according to the diagram pictured above) a 6 1\2 so I guess, technically...Mommy is (as much as it pains me to say it) correct and I am (a bit) chubby.....But that confession DOES NOT LEAVE THIS POST!

Anyway, I advise everyone to go examine their horses, compare them to the Body Condition Scale
and adjust their health care routines to promote the healthiest and happiest version of your horse that he\she can possibly be!

LOTS OF KISSES!
